Deck Joist Hangers: Model Both Supported Ends Correctly
A hanger in a 3D deck model should represent a real connection location, not merely a decorative metal plate.
The endpoint matters
The hanger belongs where the carried joist terminates at its support. If the chosen framing condition uses hangers at both supported ends, the model and material list should show both complete assemblies.
The hanger wraps the joist
A face-mount hanger is a complete connector assembly around the joist end. Modeling only one visible side can make the framing look plausible from one camera angle while being incorrect in plan view.
Hardware belongs in the takeoff
The hanger quantity is only half the material question. The approved fasteners for the selected connector also need to be part of the job list.
Corrosion compatibility matters
Exterior deck hardware must be selected for the exposure and treated-lumber environment. Follow connector and fastener manufacturer requirements.
